unusual engine behavior

I have a 99 f250 born on 12/15/99. The truck is completely stock other than 6637 air filter. The truck runs great no hiccups or any other complaints. On my way home from work tonight I noticed when I got off the accelerator the engine is completely silent for at least 5-10 seconds. The tach was still reading approximately 6-800 Rpm. When I'd just tap the accelerator the engine noise comes back. I'll try and get audio tommrow after work. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks fellas KCCO

were you going above 45mph when this happened? 7.3's cut the injectors above 45mph around there when off the go pedal. If not, you could have a ipr valve going bad, mine did the same thing, changed it and all is well.
