Strange problem...

2002 F350 driving to work today and the ses light come on and I loose almost all power. It felt like the truck wasn't getting fuel. I could barely hold 55 mph and it was blowing lots of black smoke. So I stopped and turned it off and back on, problem cleared. Any ideas? I haven't had a chance to get it scanned but a few weeks ago I had the injector wiring harness come loose under the drivers side valve cover. It acted exactly the same but it went away when I turned the truck on and off

You'll drive yourself crazy "guessing"...

The light came ON, there's a code set, find out what that is and fix the problem

Unfortunately, it takes a professional scanner to retrieve them and the Generic OBD-II scanners like the Auto Parts stores use don't do us much good. BUT, even if you have to pay for a scan, it often saves you money over buying parts you don't need.
