IDM CODE, STARTS THEN DIES

So, 99.5 7.3l just went through a big engine job. Harness, injector cups, injector orings, head gaskets, valve job....put the cab back on, started it and it died. There is a code for IDM, and a code for EBPV since we did a delete. Even if the ebpv delete plug is placed (to prevent soft codes) is it still supposed to throw a code for EBPV? That's not my main concern, its the IDM code im confused about. New valve cover harness, new gaskets...anyone any clues? My mechanic is telling me this, im not there myself. He is now working through this issue but I thought I should ask. Myself, im not too mechanically inclined. If IDM unit itself is the problem would it completely die? Please help.

Usually, with an IDM code right after all of that work, it would suggest something is unplugged either completely or partially. When I did my injectors and new harnesses and valve cover gaskets and all that, it started and ran for a bit but after about 5 miles the plug on the pass side head backed out because we didn't seat it all the way. It was the plug on the outside of the valve cover but the same could be the case for the one under the valve cover. P1316 is what usually triggers.

Im guessing the harness is the culprit too, I havent heard much from mechanic who is working on it yet. I hoping is something simple like that. He thinks it may be the connection to the IDM itself. Truck has been in the shop for more than a month and a half. And they been seriously busy, but this guy is really caring and easy to speak to so im gonna make a trip to the shop next wednesday. What about ebpv code? ? We bought all the parts for a delete job. Even an electronic part that world eliminate a soft code. .I thought I was covered, what about that?

It depends on what the code is. See if he will give you the actual codes.

As far as the IDM connector, pretty unlikely anything happened to it. The IDM is tucked up in the fender and pretty difficult to get to unless you are really trying. The odds someone was in there and messed with it is pretty unlikely.

Hmm, that's the thing. They found water in IDM. That was squared away, then they did test after test and found injector #8 to be leaking oil from top. So, there we go. So far I have changes so much on this engine its like brand new almost.
