Battery light on....overcharging?

Batteries are new (less than 1 month) and read 12.5v each. Truck starts and runs fine, but I noticed on the edge that the Volts are steady in the 14.4-14.6v range when the truck is running. The light came on as flicker this morning, but from the second start on, it's been on permanently. Regulator issue (built into the alternator I imagine)? The only thing that makes me think it isn't the alternator is the fact that the v load is pretty stable and doesn't fluctuate when turning on/off accessories. Have to tow 2,000 miles in the next few days. Help! Truck is a 99.5 w/138k miles.
