Engine(exhaust?) Brake?

I have a DP Tuner F5 on my truck and it has 7 positions. Sadly I have no idea what any of them are except for the 7th being the race tune. Anyways, when used to run it in the 4th position, it seemed to have an engine brake or something of the sort. When I was decelerating, from highway speeds mainly, it would drop a gear and maintain the high RPM to help me slow down. Sometimes it would even drop the first, then when the RPMs lowered from slowing down enough, it would even drop another gear to further help me slow down. Pretty much removing braking as a whole.

In the last few weeks though, the truck has not been doing this. I could be entirely wrong on how it worked.

Any ideas as to what this is or why it has stopped? It was a great aspect that would save my brakes.
