Random low idle and weird low pitch noise.

So my trucks been doing this for a couple of days. Randomly while stopped at a light or starting it will drop to 500 rpm while idling. And its followed with a low pitch noise almost like some things grinding or rubbing. It will last for a few seconds or until I give it a little gas. Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. Hoping it isn't a turbo issue. Anyone?

Does yours come from the passenger side dash area?

If the engine seems to idle soft, or as Ive heard customers describe it, "a little quiet" for a 7.3, its likely that you have an ICP sensor starting to go. An "in range" fault for one of these sensors can have the system seeing more ICP than is actual. This will cause IPR to ramp down to the point where the engine is barely running. This, in turn, can cause the random sounds you are hearing. If you can get your issue to happen, and know what conditions it occurs, try unplugging the ICP sensor. If your issue goes away, replace the ICP sensor and its connector with Ford OEM stuff. Had bad luck with aftermarket sensors.

Mine also does it if I put a strain on the electrical system....not the right terminology, but if I push the button to roll up the window when the window is already up, the idle drops a little and the noise shows up.
