So I just got to work and noticed something leaking under my truck. I stuck my finger in it and it smells like diesel. The puddle is slightly to the passenger side of center under the tie rod. I can see the frame cross brace above it looks pretty soaked, but as I only had a minute to inspect under there before I had to come in I didn't see an obvious leak point. Any ideas? What is in that area of the truck that it could be? Thanks as always...

First steam clean your engine, then to help find your leak use baby powder. also since you said the frame rail cross brace and smells like diesel check oil pan gasket, fuel in oil is a posibility

Check the seperator valve on the back of the filter housing. Did you recently open the valve or change your fuel filter?

I did look around the fuel filter bowl and didn't see anything around there-and I haven't opened that up or drained it anytime lately. I'll check it out anyway-I'm really hoping it's something simple somewhere!

Do you just mean that wherever the leak is if the oil pan gasket is also leaking it could mix in with the oil?

Ok-so I finally got under there and poked around, and it looks like the fuel came from the drain tubing from the fuel filter bowl. I can't really figure out why it would leak out some fuel, but I drove the truck a few miles at lunch and didn't get any more leaks. Kind of weird...

Ford F 250 1995 7.3 diesel leak
My turck has been leaking fuel for some time. I sent it to a diesel repair shop. They could not find any thing. I was told that it might be the fuel pump. Changed the fuel pump and the leak appeared to have gone away. Eight months later the leak appeared again. Sent it back to the same shop and they could not find any thing. I cleand up the fuel under the fuel filter and with a mirrow, high power light and the truck running found that the Thermol Heater on the side of the fuel filter was leaking fuel. After spending $400.00 to change the fuel pump, to dicover that it was not the pump but the O ring around the thermol heater I hope this helps some one else who has a fuel leak. I have change the thermol heater and the water sensor probe below it. Parts cost $80.00 at the Ford Dealership. My question now is do I have to refill the fuel filter canister with diesel fuel, it drained when I removed the thermol heater and water sensor? Can someone help me with this?

Has anybody else had this problem? It's just weird to me that it's so intermittent...
