Hpop gear cover leak

So i have a small oil leak coming from the seal around my hpop gear access cover that holds the ebp tube and sensor.
Do i need to drain the hpop reservoir before removal? It only leaks while runnig and i saw a vid of a guy actually running his 7.3 with the cover off and showed the gear slinging oul around, however it did not appear to be a fluid filled chamber of sorts. Is this the case? Can i just remove and reseal?

Thanks
Kevin

honestly you gotta remove it to reseal it anyways.
so its gonna leak out whatevers there, once its done leaking out reseal it.

you can refill the hpop by removing the bolt on top.
