I have always demanded that all my old parts that i've had replaced be returned to me. If they didn't want to give them back, they should have bought them.

well I did get most of my parts back. At least all of the ones I could, Sopposedly the heads are not reworkable. well I asked for the old ones back since they were installing "new" ones and was told there was a core charge which didn't make sense since they were not "reworkable" and also I asked for my broken starter back and they also said there was a core charge on that too. but with the nose cone snapped off I knew they weren't going to get core for it but had to let it go anyway. I could have gotten those parts back if I wanted to pay the dealer for the core money they would have been out but wasn't interested in paying $500 for a set of worthless heads!
But on another note I got my head gaskets back and was told after the act that they were sent in to international harvester to be looked over. but never said a thing about the fact that I had them sitting at home on my workbench.

Cool Yippt kyoh kyae

I look at this in a different light now. If I could I would get an agreement to put them on a card temporaraly and get a second opinion for arguementive use. My dealer refused me access at the time of the incedent but filed differntly with the BBB and Ford. The story from there side got bigger every document the wrote. The BBB noticed that. I pursued and Ford hung themselves. Not all cases will be like mine but I do encourage others to not lie down and get squished.

I agree. I would not worry about even a few hundred bucks most of the time but we are talking $6000. Thats worth fighting bare knuckle for...

Definitely, we all work hard for the money that goes toward our rigs. I know I get very upset when someone tries to cheat me out of mine, no matter how big or small the price. Keep putting up a fight! We're behind you all the way...

i know there are a lot of instances out there where guys take it up the ...... due to the dealer trying to void warranties....but you guys do need to remember something....i know a lot of your mods will not cause a lot of the things dealers try to blame them on, but they will, especially on sick-0's, cause some things to happen.....or at least advance the time it takes for a part or sensor to fail. im with you on going after ford when it is unjust, im in a class action lawsuit against them right now over the pennies on the dollar the pay the techs on warranty work. in reality that is all related, because the reason some dealers push for customer pay on jobs due to mods is because they lose money on warranty work, others look at it realisically...blown headgaskets at 16,000 miles on a chipped sick-0 with heavy mods.....caused by mods........bad turbo on a 7.3 with a chip and some mods....most likely just a bad turbo........just like lifted trucks wear ball joints and steering linkages out faster.......but that has no effect on if an electric vacume pump should be warranty......dont hang all the dealers, if they send parts back (ford does call warranty parts back to the factory to be tested and inspected) that they can tell came off of a truck with apparant mods....they kick back the warranty claim and the dealer eats the repair. and yes, i can look at a sick-0 headgasket failure and tell if it was chipped or not......and im not even an engeneer......just some things to think about, im not against you guys, i just wanted to point out some undiscussed ideas.

I am with you Marc, if that post you just left was your first one on here, you might have made a lot of us upset. But so far you have seemed to be very honest, and apparently you really know your stuff. So I would say you're probably one of our most appreciated member so far, and you've only been around for a few days!

just doin what i can, and speakin what i know, but thanks for the props, and i hope i can help you guys out any way i can.......just thought some perspective from the other side(the non biased.....dont blame chips on everything side) might help some guys see some middle ground....even if some dealers dont want to go to the middle ground. too bad we cant all just realize that things are pretty simple if you go back to the basics of a motor and look and what can cause what...and what cant.......
