Oil Temperature
I was wondering if anyone knows the proper operating temperature for a 2002 7.3L powerstroke. My gauge has a green area on it and mine runs on the upper limit of it. The scale on the gauge is also the same as my tranny gauge. (Banks gauges) Just wondering.

200 or so per the pcm, my aftermarket gauge is by the oil cooler and shows about 230 when really pushing it...

Thats where mine is located, right above the oil filter. The scales on my tranny and oil temp gauges are both the same. I would assume that the oil temp gauge would have a different scale than the tranny. My engine oil is consistently in the same area, its just at the high end of the green section.

Agreed.
My truck is usually around 190-200. When pushing the truck empty I see around 215. Towing on longer trips I've seen 230ish. |
