Power problems

Ok, here's the deal.

My neighbor (who is a good friend of mine) has a 2001 with the 7.3 stroke and a 6 speed. It's lifted 4" with dualled up 35's and 4.10 gears.

I weant for a ride with him the other day and his truck will absolutely kill mine in the power department. This seems odd to me because on paper mine should make just as much power or more, but it doesn't even come close.

I think I have some kind of mechanical problem that I need to track down. The only really noticeable thing I can see is his truck will build 27 lbs of boost and I can't even build 20!! I think it is some sort of fueling issue, but I am also wondering if his pcm is making the difference.

His truck is an 01 and mine is a late 99. The factory ratings were 275 on his and mine was only 235. So my question is, can I get an 01 pcm for my truck and will it make much difference. If not, I guess I need to start looking for other problems cause I know I am not making the power I should be.

What do you guys think??
Who knows where to start??

Power problem

Oh, I forgot to mention.

The only mods he has are 4" dp, w/ 5" straight pipe and a Superchips programmer that he runs in tow performance which I believe is 80hp.

Get a TW chip and you'll certainly be able to keep up!

Power

I am definately going to get a TW asap.. But I am thinking that I have a fuel delivery problem or something. While I had the turbo apart doing the WW, I checked free play and everything spins freely, so I don't think the turbo is hurt.

But I cannot build over 20 lbs of boost even when pulling 8000lbs uphill with the pedal to the floor. Also, the EGT's never pass 1000. I have a slight surge at low speed and it will use 2 or 3 courts of oil every other tank of fuel. I haven't noticed any blue smoke out the exhaust, and the coolant isn't showing any signs of oil. I park the truck in the same place every night and no puddles, so I have no idea where all the oil is going.

The valley is always slightly damp, but no standing puddles. I changed the fuel filter and run additive in every tank of fuel, so fuel condition shouldn't be a problem. I am just wondering if maybe I have an HPOP dying or something? Not even sure how to diagnose that one?

At this point I am thinking about buying the Auto Enginuity program cause I am under the impression that you can check all kinds of engine performance perameters with it.

I don't know where to start, so I am hoping one of the 7.3 gurues will chime in.

Thanks in advance for any help.
