Possible blown turbo??

So I heard a pop/hiss sound from the hood, then truck stared POURING out white smoke. Went to pull it into parking lot and it was smoking so bad I couldn't see the vehicle behind me. I knew the turbo was toast because I could hear it rubbing. Got it towed home and pulled turbo off and yhe exhaust side was covered in oil and oil in downpipe.

But my question is, would just a blown seal in the turbo cause this much smoke or is something else wrong? I couldn't notice and rough running because I was to busy being irritated and amazed at the amount of smoke. Any help would be appreciated

Yes shaft is still intact. A little play up and down. But majority in and out. Compressor wheel is shot and exhaust wheel rubbed a little. Oil soaked in tutbo on exhaust side and into downpipe. Didnt notice any oil in up pipes.

The ammount of white smoke is what worried me. Put it this way, think of a built pulling truck dumping out black smoke at take off, now color that smoke white and that's how my truck was

Just a blown seal will indeed cause that. Sounds like you already have it figured out. So what else are you really wanting to know.

This isn't my truck, just a video I found. My truck was rolling out this much smoke but I can't remember if it was running this rough. Kinda cought up in the moment.

my 2002 popped and smoke with miss. checked no compression on #8 cyl. seems the turbo wheel will chip and pieces go shortest route to #8 and burn hole in top of piston. hope you have better luck.
going with complete long block rebuild with forged rods, Garrett turbo with exhaust delete pedestal, Banks intercooler and flex a lite electric fans.
already have 85 hp chip, turbo back Magna flow exhaust, western diesel ram air intake and 430 rear gear.
