99 f550 fuel problems?

ok guys This is what i got....

99 550 7.3 cycle key few times fires up runs about 4 mins then runs bad and dies. cycle key again does same thing.

1st about 2 months ago i had the rubber piece on bottom of sending unit crack. we replaced and fill up. got everything going. tank had rust we cleaned best we could. ran good for 2 months

Did same thing again pulled sending unit all good. filled tank to 1/2 tank no difference. next pulled sending unit again and checked all screens and filters all clear. cant find any leaks. and it should be sucking air from sending unit with 1/2 tank right?

im at a loss. it acts like it runs till bowl is empty then dies, but with filter off it pumps fuel and fills bowl. help me out here guys. our local dealerships just change a bunch of parts till they find the right one im tired of being takin advantage of by them. tell me where to start and we will do it

rig up a f/p gauge. You'll need a #4orb(m) x 1/4jic(m). Then a 1/4jic(F) x 1/4jic(F) 90*. Then get a cheap liquid filled gauge and 18" flexable grease gun hose. Attach a 1/4jic(m) x 1/3npt(F), to install it.

Also, check the icp for oil in plug..etc.

And, removethe "return" line from bowl, and blow low psi air thru it...

Does all this hook up before the bowl. For the f/p guage.

What should pressure read.

How does the fuel pumps work on these the electric pump turns on then shuts off after timing out. Does it kick back on after start up to keep bowl full?

1) theres 2-ports where the yellow lever is. The d/s port is pre-filter, p/s port is post filter, for psi readings

2) 55psi-70psi

3) Yes...times on for about 45sec, then once engine is "keyed" over, it kicks back on...
