choppy acceleration

I posted a thread about a ticking sound, like an exhaust leak, but now it is getting worse and when I accelerate, mainly low rpms, the engine runs smooth but sounds real choppy. It is definately getting worse and I'm afraid to keep driving it but I have to because it is also my work truck I use to pull a 14ft. trailer. Is this an injector issue? Do dealerships charge to pull codes? I have changed the fuel filter about 4,000 miles ago.

Advance Auto Parts doesent charge to pull codes. Thats who I use in a pinch!

Sounds like an injector, although if it was, your engine would not be smooth it would be shaking. Might be a GP relay.. You're gonna want to pull codes for sure and maybe to a KOER test

It doesn't puff any blue smoke, could it possibly be a under valve wire harness issue? What is a KOER test? Would codes pop up if no ses lights are on?

It could be a UVCH issue, but that should set codes as well, at least mine did. a KOER is a Key on Engine Running test on the scanner. It checks a number of things while the truck is running and might find what is causing your problem..

And yes, you can have codes without the SES light coming on.

In the cab it sounds like a helicopter. No shaking no smoke. Its louder when I have my chip on rather then stock setting. Still looking for a scanner but I want to ask my cousins friend if he has one rather than bending over for a dealership scan.

Try to get a video of the sound and get a REAL scanner on it...

Choppy leads me to believe ICP, Fuel and Trans... but we need much more to really help.

got my truck scanned today, no trouble codes, just P0476 and P0605. He said its prolly an exhaust leak like I thought but been driving it for a week and a half and can't see anywhere it is leaking. Did a buzz test and nothing came back.

so I replaced hpop, ipr, and icp. The sound is like when you stick a playing card in a fan and it hits the blades. ? I also have a slight vibration on the floor. The truck doesn't seem to blow black smoke like it used to when I floor it. Any other possibilities? I took it to a shop and they said it had good oil and fuel pressure. No codes.
