Battery Light on but good voltage

Driving on the highway today I looked down and out of the blue the Battery indicator light was on but the voltage meter was still reading normal. Shut the truck on and off stopping certain places, but the light wouldnt go out. I havent tested the voltage of the batteries or the alternator yet but wanted to see if there was any pointers or ideas on what might be the issue.

Need to do the tests on the alternator and batteries. It didn't come on for no reason.

check the wire on the back of the alternator make sure the connection is clean and tight ... I had that issue in my 550 and it was the wire on the alternator not getting a good contact

my guess is alternator

I had the same problem recently. It turned out to be a bad alternator. The alternator checked fine with the portable check machine, took it off and it checked good at the alternator shop, still had red light on. Decided to replace it anyway, and guess what, red light went off.

Just had the same problem, symptoms, and indications last week. Replaced the alternator and all is well. It was a very easy fix.

Yeah I'm thinking alternator too. It took me about 2 minutes to remove it. Get it tested for free at an Advance Auto or somethin.
