Dip stick question

I took my valve covers off to change my glow plugs. When i was doing this i manage to twist the tube that the dipstick travels down and it came out of the oil pan. The end of the tube has two rings around it, and it looks like there may be a o ring that goes on the end of tube (between the two rings) . My question is _ does the dip stick tube require an o-ring or does it just slide back in?

The dipstick tube does require o-rings unless you want it to leak oil.
