Diesel Fuel Sprayed Everywhere!!

My truck recently had a big fuel leak. And by big I mean fuel spraying all over the underside of my truck, and directly onto the exhaust manifold.

The quick connect "locking tab" disconnected and the connection separated spraying fuel everywhere.

First my check engine light came on, then I got to where I was going stop and smelled major diesel. Low and behold there was a diesel waterfall under my truck.

Anyway a reconnected the lines and no leaks. But it seems to me this connections don't latch all that well and could easily come loose, and it seems like the just pull the flex hose and the steel line together. I've heard of this happening before.

Does Ford or anyone else make a better connector? They're the silver connectors on the fuel lines in the photo. They're pretty *****y if you ask me.

This is the first I have ever heard of this happening, normally fuel spraying comes from the FF lid. I sure wouldn't be driving it with the same fittings, they would be replaced or this will likely happen again!!

I actually think I will be ok now after some looking into it and some other help. The connections are actually quick connects which an additional safety clip. A fuel line disconnect tool is required to split the quick connect and the safety clip is just a back up it the quick connect comes undo.

I ended up snapping the quick connect back together and couldn't pull it apart with my hands, they reattached the safety clip. So i think I'm good for now, but I'm going to be watching it.

It still blows my mind to think the quick connect and the safety clip could come un-done though.
