Lack of power upon acceleration

Hey guys,

I have an f-550 with a 01 7.3 in it. I bought it used, and I am having some power loss issues.

I think that the turbo pedestal is leaking currently.

When it pulls off from a start it feels like the truck can't get any boost pressure going. If you throw it in neutral and get the accelerator going it seems like it pulls off fine, otherwise it dogs for a little.

Any suggestions?

I hear ya man, I have a 01 7.3 250 I sort of have the same problem and I feel like it has something to do with my turbo as well, ive been reading other forums and doing some check up but what some guys has said ill share what I have done so...

1. have you checked your sensors such as ICP, Hpop,

also have you heard or felt around for a vacuum leak

I am still trying to figure my lack of power as well im about to take my air intake off and start feeling to see if my turbo wheel is loose

I did some checking on my truck yesterday evening. First off I my red vacuum line for my wastgate to the turbo the rubber boot was deteriorating I went to O'Reillys and got a little hose to put on it that fit snug round the line to the valve also fell under your intake hose to the turbo I also found a big crack on the bottom got that **** fixed fast have to oder to get ome from O'Reilly autozone doesn't even have or can get the part. They will try to just say they can get the cold air intake cheaper than motorcraft , which I am considering since I have it off and thinking about it. But if you just want the replacement $25 is how much the hose intake clams to be on site so have it pulled up on phone if you can in case your O'Reillys don't play fair haha. These are some things I've found on mine. Can't say its helping me with boost yet but since you have it off check the spool for play I believe mine is OK. but I have questions maybe someone can help me. started the truck and felt the vacuum line while idling and felt no pressure idk if that is normal I would think it should have constant sucking in one of the hose line some where or dose it pressure up when I drive and rmp accelerates? My first thought is my vacuum pump going out/has gone out. Can some one explain !

Theres no vacuum pump.
At idle your not going to feel much if anything at all.

As for a cold air intake, if your on a budget, search for 6637 mod in the 7.3 forum.
