no start sometimes

this post is for a buddy that has a 99/ 7.3. last week he went to go amd start it after work and it wouldn't start so i checked his fuel filter and looked it over but im not that familiar with the 7.3. so he let it sit for about a half an hour and it started right up it's been doing this a couple of times anyone have any ideas where to start looking? its completely stock and has a newer alt and starter. when it doesn't start it just keeps cranking over sounds like there is enough juice. has me puzzled , any help would be appreciated thanks

Does he have a way to scan the truck? I guess start with the easy stuff first and check all connections make sure they are tight on the batteries and corrosion free. After that he may want to check the glow plug relay maybe that is working intermittenly.
