Power Steering Gear Box
Got a question for all of you. How do I know which gear box I need for my truck when the websites I have found are asking if it is and 8 spline or a 9 spline? The gear box on my truck is leaking pretty good and while I am having a buddy of mine fix the rear main seal because it is leaking I was going to have him replace the gear box too.
Also are there any websites in particular that have good deals on gear boxes or is $240-$300 a good price for one? |

Count the splines between the 4 tabs that will give you the # your looking for. Also if its a early 99 the gear box is the same as a 97, found that out the hard way. I installed one on a 99 and the pitman arm would'nt work right, same splines just clocked wrong. One box is splined in a X pattern and the other is a + pattern ,hopefully this helps.
Might check local parts stores like Carquest and Napa their prices arent to bad. |
