Failed emissions ses light flickering

Have a 2000 7.3 runs fine but wouldn't pass visual. Tech said under full load the service engine light would flicker.

Drove it home never saw it come on, was told by then normal driving would not cause it. Hooked up my trusty scanner and no codes.

So what would cause this light to flicker like that under a heavy load.?

should've ask for the "code", with light being set. Possibly, "low" voltage, since it was under heavy load?

99.5 x-cab 7.3l, 6spd, 161k miles.....

That's the biggest problem is not throwing any codes. Used my buddies scanner and Nada. Truck runs fine. If I unplug the edge programmer it leaves the service engine light on. That was the shops suggestion is to run it without that, but then I would fail visual instantly.

Unless your buddy has a Really good or Professional scanner you're not getting a true scan. Our trucks cannot be properly scanned by most scanners (too many Ford proprietary and Diesel specific codes). So, if you've gotten "No Codes Found" on a Generic OBD-II scanner, get it redone and you might find the answer to why the light comes on...

I'd be very surprised if that were true...

Maybe, I don't know every scanners capabilities but, you'd have to find the exact Make & Model and research if it will do what we need it to. Did it cost him like over $500?
