Weird Noise????

Ok, so the past few mornings have been about 10 degrees here in colorado. and when i go out to start my 7.3 Ford F-250, When i start the truck i get a loud spining noise comming from what i thought was the starter motor. After the starter kicks the truck on, for a second or two you can hear it continue to spin and whine down. I dont know if something is going wrong or broken or normal. Any Ideas?

sounds like the bendix on your starter is sticking. Time for a rebuild or new one
