4x4 problems

97 PSD 4x4 , put it in 4 low to get out of some wet grass/ mud. Got out of it put it back in 2 wheel drove off and now i hear a metal grinding sound out of the lt front wheel! If i pick up speed and put on the brakes a thumping sound comes from the same wheel.? it feels like its dragging like its in 4 high still?
