my truck died on me like someone turned the key off,and i was on the interstate.it would not start. well i had it towed home and ive check all the most comon things with out taking it in. so my dad has the same truck an a friend told me to take the idm out of his plug it in to mine and see if would start. it started right up but ran real rough an would barley rev up. no smoke either but smelled rich. does anybody have any ideas.. before the idm went out when i was driving home that day, never had a problem it ran great.
its a 2000 modle. thanks

i replaced it with one from the ford dealer,but i did repace it before i found out my idm was bad.

How many miles? Is the oil serviced regularly?

What model is your dads truck there is different idms for different models. Need codes pulled that would help.

111000 miles oil is changed reg.

mine is 2000 his is 2001 same number on the idm,it didnt code until i got it started agin with his idm.

got er fixed. took it to the dealer and it was the drivers side valve cover harness.
