Skips 7.3

Just picked up my truck from the shop (1999 7.3 power stroke ) I had a new HPOP and a Regulator installed It wouldn't run when I took it there I just bought it that way. They installed new cam posisition sensor ect

The truck skips and I was wondering how much trouble do these injectors give you ? Do the electrical connections become disconected ? The truck also smokes (Blue) pretty bad so I'm assuming the injector may be not firing Only 78,000 miles on the vehicle I was told # 5 cylinder is the culpret.
Any ideas or advise ? Can I take a compression check on it Will a scan tell me more ?

you can do a cylinder contribution test, but from what your describing it sounds like a leaking injector seal or o-ring. and yes the uvc harnesses are notorious for coming loose from the injectors and glow plugs.

I guess the first thing I should do is to remove the valve cover and take a look . Is it a big deal changing out an injector? Will I need any special tools ?
What should I expect to pay for an injector , and any additional necessary parts that go with the job ?
