Mine Failed while traveling over the holidays!
Recommend you get in line to get this recall taken care of. Hope this helps! Happy New Year!Barney ![]() Ford is conducting a voluntary customer safety recall of approximately 1.18 million 1997-2003 model year Ford F-Super Duty trucks, E-Series vans and Excursions currently registered in the U.S. due to a concern over robustness of the cam position (CMP) sensor that may result in degraded engine performance including hesitation, stumble or stalling. This recall involves older vehicles that are powered by 7.3L diesel engines manufactured by International; our current vehicle lines, which are equipped with 6.0L and 6.4L diesel engines, do not experience this issue. Here are details on how many of each type of vehicles are being recalled, the build dates, and where they were made: Vehicle Line MY Assembly Plant Beginning End E-Series 1997-2003 Lorain 4/3/1996 9/16/2003 Excursion 2000-2003 Kentucky 3/25/1999 11/1/2002 F650/750 Series 2000-2003 Cuautitlan 1/20/1999 10/31/2002 F-Series Over 8500 GVW 1997 Kentucky 6/18/1996 12/17/1997 F-Series Over 8500 GVW 1997 Cuautitlan 6/11/1996 12/10/1997 F-Series Over 8500 GVW 1999-2003 Kentucky 9/3/1997 11/4/2002 F-Series Over 8500 GVW 1999-2003 Cuautitlan 10/2/1998 7/21/2003 There have been 14 allegations of minor accidents or loss of control concerns, but no injuries due to this concern in over 10 years of vehicle service and billions of miles driven. Owners will be notified (phased mailings will take place between mid-Dec and end of May) and instructed to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealer to have their vehicles inspected, and if necessary repaired. There will be no charge to owners for this service. |
