SLUGGISH

i have a 99 7.3l. i bought it about a year ago. it i think it just drive sluggish. and i dont know why. i put a chip on it and i have 6 inch mitercut stacks. and it still drive sluggish and im always having to tap the brake to make overdrive on when i go up hills. why is it so sluggish. im really not a mechanic so i dont know. please help.

Dont feel alone, I have a 99 and its s turd also. I just about have to take it out of od to get a hill @ highway speeds. mine is stock though.

early 99 (11/98)
PSD F250 lariat crew cab sb.
3"lift w/ 33/12.50 24's
5" silverline stright pipe
k&n intake filter
1705 max microtuner
otherwise all stock.

94.5 PSD Fsuperduty 450 wheel lift wrecker
5 speed
BB mod
5:13 gears
Top speed 69mph

yeah its almost like i put a chip on it and it has better shifting but when it gets in 4th gear its just so sluggish on hills and stuff. i dont understand. what do i need to replace or change.

I would first scan it for codes and get some gauges so you can see what kind of boost you are pulling.

yeah i plan on getting some guages soon. what do you know about the hook up and all with them. is it a do it your selfer or can it be real technical. how much do they run and what do you suggest.

I really like the isspro gauges.
I got mine from...... well now i forget. i payed 325 shipped for the hole kit.

I think its just the nature of the beast you here that alot about 99 & 99.5.Miine is the same way i havent been able to do any mods yet they say the power is there will see its got a long way to go maybe im just to used to gassers.

I sure hope so.

The biggest problem is with mine is you have to get into the throttle so much before it starts working/waking up. If you floor it it will spin tires.

just have to floor it to do anything.. maybe the petal needs adjusting. if u could.

Ive owned mine for 3 years its always been that way just like you said when you really get into it it will run my friends around home have always said that fords auto trans were dogs they all owned sticks one friend has a 6.0 auto and it drives like a total different truck than mine i know there is more ponys there but it is a huge difference.
