Help 99 4in exhaust Mod
I just installed a silver line 4in exhaust. It went well I had to lift the body a bit to get the 4in down pipe in. The truck idles well but as I get between 1500 and 2100 rpms on excelleration it flys but as I slow or let off or just hold my RPM i get a constant whoosh sound I dont see how I could of done anything wrong. I don't really like the sound unless I know there is nothing wrong. It is a new sound from the stock exhaust. Please let me know what the problem could be or what is casing the noise. I checked all the boots for the trubos. I think it might be the waste letting off becuse the turbo can spin up faster.

it could just be your turbo cause sometimes it makes that sound, if its a 99 is it an auto or man. cause if its a man it will always make the sound that your talking about if it is what i think it is. im sure its fine though.

I am noticng now that when the whoosh happens I have a slight pull on my power It is weird but there is defintly a loss in power for the slightes second.

I just spoke to some of our local bombers here and they think teh wastegate is dumping all of the boost becuse the air is too cold now they recomend that I put my screens on.

the wg doesnt dump boost because of temp. it relieves over boost. the sound is most likely the accumulated boost blowing back thru the intake when the engine rpms drop due to shifting or just letting of the go pedal. bottom line is that the noise is normal. just amplified by the bigger exhaust...Rod
