97 storke in need of lift pump

well ford called me back and told me i need a lift pump and a fuel pressure regulator and 1200 bucks to fix it. so how hard is it to do this in the driveway? where is a good place to get a good price on a new lift pump and regulator? i can't seem to find anything online for it. any info would be greeatly appreciated!

fuel pum should only be between 120$- a few hundred.. what is the regulator though? is the the throttle cable?
