Hello all. I have a 2002 f350 7.3l and It wont crank. It has a fresh alternator and batteries. Ran for a while like that and now all the light shine bright and everything comes on and It just wont crank. I just replaced the starter tonight because I notices that the wire bolt from the starter to the solenoid was striped and broke. I put the new one on and still the same thing.. No crank.. HElp please im lost now.. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Have you checked the fuse box, drivers side under the hood? It could be since the wire was broke, it blew the fuse.

I would check and see if you are getting 12 volts to the starter with key on, if not check all fuses, if you have 12 volts sounds like you got a bad starter. It does happen especially if you bought one of the lifetime warranty units from one of the chain stores!! Let us know what happens.

Where you from.
I suggest you grab a volt meter, check the wires at the starter. Check the big one it should have constant 12 volts, the little wire will have 12 volts when the key is in the cranking position. Also check the grounds. If you have a bad ground at the starter it will not crank at all. Check the fuses under the hood and in the cab. Remove the starter and have it bench tested, you can do it yourself at your house with a battery charger. Just strap the starter to a bench vise to prevent damage. Then hook it up to the battery charger. If it operates when hooked to the battery charger then the starter is most likely ok. Check the wire going to the starter for resistance if you have high resistance you may have a broken wire. I also suggest if you do not have a repair manual for this truck to get one. Chiltons has a good one with a good wire diagram in it. Haynes as well has a good manual. This book will help with your troubleshooting. |

Ok checked all the fuses and grabbed a volt meter. I am getting 12.4 at the big red wire and like 11.99 when the key is turned on to crank.. Still no start?
