"Overdrive Off" not working

Just noticed this morning that this isn't working. I wasn't pulling anything I just wondered if it worked, any ideas before I start troubleshooting? I was on my way to work, haven't had to time to mess with it yet. Thanks.

Try this.

Pull off the cover on the steering column. You will notice wires coming out of the gear selector going to a small plug almost in the center of the column. 1st check if it is un plugged. 2nd look for any noticable broken wires frayed wire etc. 3rd with your truck running and the connector plugged in push OD button with right hand and tug and twist and pull on the wire that goes up into gear selector. If after all of this the light still hasn't lit, replace the gear selector anyway because I see this almost once every week. As a matter of fact it happend to my truck.

I just replaced my gear selector handle, I had the same problem and the wires were broke where they went into the handle.

overdrive not working

As Robert told me, it's because if you use your tilt wheel alot, it puts stress on the wires where they come out of the handle. There's a hard piece of white plastic that wears on the wires and breaks them. I had that happen to my '02 and that year you couldn't just buy a new switch and wires, have to buy new handle, costs 140.00, but might find one at junkyard.

Yeah I think my truck is in the process of doing this. Sometimes it is a little tricky to get my overdrive to turn off whe I push the button.
