Truck is being weird.
ok first off i have a 99.5 f350. i was driving to work today got off the freeway and once i got off the off-ramp my truck almost died and it threw a SES light get about 5 more blocks and my RPM's started to bounce up and down and would make the truck cut out, so i pulled off to the side of the road and it goes away as soon as i give it gas it starts doing the thing where the RPM's jump only when i give it gas, barly made it to work like 2 blocks from where it started. get it to work shut it off and opened the hood. i Noticed my coolant lvl was about 1 inch above the max line, never seen it that high before. so when i go to leave for work start truck up pull it forward lik 20 feet and opened the hood and my coolant lvl was back to normal. so by the time i get home the coolant lvl was way high again, seems to run fine now, just curious what might cause this..

Not sure almost sounds like a cps, but Im not sure about the coolant level. Do you have a way to scan your truck?

i actually stopped by ford on my lunch break and bought a new CPS and put it in after work, sorry forgot about that lol. when i left work after i put the new one in let it run for a few mins and the coolant lvl was fine, get home and its almost to the cap. i dont have any way to get a scanner. Temp gauge inside trucks reads normal. was normal also when it was acting up on me on the way to work, it would only cut out when i gave it gas and the RMP's just jumped up and down, was going down the road with hazzards on going like 10 MPH lol. did notice there was some crusty stuff around the edges of the water pump. .

Possible you need a new cap

Crusty stuff around the water pump usually means you have a leak. The coolant level rising could possibly be an air bubble in the system. It could easily just be the cap needs replaced because it won't hold proper pressure. The engine temps may have not risin because of the cooler temps.

Is it a 6.0l and do you have a tuner on it. I dont know for sure but I have read about tuned 6.0l pukes coolant out of the cap or at least they call it puking anso they run the coolant a little low.
