Service/Check Engine Light
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum and have a technical question. I recently picked up a 2001 F250 7.3L and since buying it stock (other than a 6" Pro-Comp lift and 35" tires) I've installed a 4" turbo back exhaust, Edge Evolution programmer and an Airaid Quickfit Intake system. Once I installed the intake I decided to up the programming from 60HP to 80HP to gradually get used to the differences. I noticed that after installing the 80HP tune and the intake that I now get a service/check engine light that comes on only at around 3K rpm and then will eventually go off by itself. Any info/assistance/insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bill |

Thanks for the welcome and for the insight fellas. I actually spoke with Edge this morning and the tech basically said that what I was/am experiencing is fairly normal even with the Juice w/Attitude modules. It's due primarily to the factory PCM no being able to recognize the increased amount of boost the programming is pushing out. There really isn't a code that it has thrown since I scanned for it and nothing came up. He stated that if the light goes out within a few minutes it's something minor that a factory sensor reset's itself after being tripped. Have any of you guys/gals ever experienced this?

oh yeah very common when bumping boost up, a few different vendors make an inline pigtail that will attach to the MAP sensor and fool it into thinking boost is within normal range. Easy installation, about 2 mins. If indeed your SES light is from overboosting, and I would be surprised if it is not, this will cure your problem.
here are some vendor links to check I'm sure there are others as well.. http://www.spdiesel.com/ http://www.dfuser.com/mfg/powerstrok...rs/Sensors.php you may also PM some of the vendors here, see what they can do for you. |
