Question Unsuring Noise

I have 99 PS with 171,000 miles on it. When it is at idle it sounds as if the pump or injectors are cavitating. If you raise the RPM up to around a 1000 it goes away as soon as you lift it comes back. It has been doing this for a long time. When you accelorate and drive it runs and operates fine. It is just a drive you crazy noise. I still average 19 -21 MPG
