moneypit white smoke
Hi guys. New to the site. I've got an 01 ford 450 xl with the 7.3 turbodiesel which is suppose to be the best known engine made lol. I bought the truck last year and it was maintenanced very poorly. So now it has all new fluids. New tires and brakes, filter, etc. The tank delaminated on me. So I replaced it with a new plastic 40 gallon one and new fuel pump. Flushed the lines and fuel bowl and replaced filter. I also found loose connection at hpop and it was leaking so I replaced hpop and during the process I found no nut on IPR. I put new one on there. It has a new garret turbo with the pedestal upgrade. So with all that said. I was driving it today with no load and when it got up to about 2500rpm it started to cut out. I have over 12 gallons of fuel in the truck with the extreme diesel additive added. I also have plenty of (nice halfway clean )synthetic oil in engine. When I pushed on the gas it started blowing white smoke and I couldnt accelerate above 1 grand on the tac. So I drained the fuel bowl and held it to the floor out in the driveway til it stopped blowing smoke and sounded normal. Now everytime I drive it white smoke pours out when I give it some juice and it still stutters. If you had to make a next step. What would it be? I did look for fuel leaks everywhere thinkin maybe I had a loose line allowing air in. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge other than my bullydog which I unplugged at first sign of trouble, I think it has adequate pressure. So Im scratchin my head and warming up my wallet lol as I get some advice from the pros. thanks in advance Don
