Clutch Noise

I am new to Diesel ownership and have a question about the clutch and shifting. I have a 1999 F250 7.3l Powerstroke with 6 speed. When i start out in first and release the clutch pedal i can hear a slight (Grind, Rattle, Whirl) until the pedal is up. Is this normal or does my clutch have a problem. The other problem i have is my wife seems to stall everytime i let her try to drive it. She drives manual everyday so what is different about the diesel truck that makes her stall it so much? Thanks.
