99F350 Nostart
I am having some issues with my 99 F350. It came to me used, with two bad batteries. I replaced both of them, and have had few issues until recently. The batteries were not being charged it seems, and I swapped out the alternator, as it was only showing 6v when I checked it.
I am now having the same issue. However, the new alternator is only showing .6v or so at idle, when the other showed 6v. Is there a better way to check to see if the alternator is not functioning correctly? Where else should I start looking? The terminals are clean, and the batteries charge up just fine on a trickle charger, so I dont suspect the connectors right now. One thing I did notice, is that the boost solenoid was clicking very quickly when I was having starting problems. I suspect low battery power is the issue here, but I am open to checking other avenues. Any advice here? Thanks. |

Just replaced CPS, and no change in starting. I am going to check the bowl for fuel next, and all the fuses. I assume I am getting fuel, as I can hear the fuel pump running.

Checked HPOP, it was pretty empty. Put probably a quart of oil in there. No change. I disconnected the ICP, and it seemed like it tried, so I may replace that, unless there is a reason not to. All fuses look good, there is fuel in the bowl. I broke the negative terminal on the starting battery after trying to clean it, and open it a bit more. So that is going to be replaced as well.
EDIT: Found out the truck should run with out the ICP even plugged in, so that is likely not the problem. Time to try other things. Last edited by warlock4u; 09-29-2012 at 12:22 PM. |

Found out the Glow Plug relay was shot. Replaced it, and the truck started right up.
