weird noise under mid acceleration

I got a 2000 7.3 6 speed with a 160 horse chip and a spectre cold air intake and about 60 pushing 16-18 pounds of boost it starts making a bad sucking noise and cuts out and starts again and cuts out it does it really fast like like saying tick tick tick tick as fast as you can if that helps any on what its doing. I dont know if im popping the waste gate or what o any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me like compressor surge which our turbos are known for even with slight increases in performance.

Quick fix is a wicked wheel and maybe if needed a ported housing. BUT, after spending 4-500 bucks on that, you might want to just consider a turbo upgrade.
