Problems After Installing New Chip
Ok, I'm going to start from the beginning on this one. 2000 7.3 ex cab short bed 4x4, 204,000 miles. The truck has been awesome, never gives any major problems. I have had a DP Tuner on it for several years. I upgraded the HPOP to a SRP1.1, and began to have a hard start issue. The truck would sometimes take 2 or 3 times to crank, and sometimes it would crank then shut off. It also stuttered while going down the road twice, and shut off once. I pulled the ICP plug and found oil in it, so I cleaned that and it seemed to help. I also bought a new IPR which I havent had time to put in yet. So with that problem apparently solved (I thought) I decided to switch to Bean's tuning, so I ordered a new 6 position chip from them. I got the chip in the mail, and installed it in the truck per Beans' instructions. The truck ran horrible, it seemed like none of the tunes matched up to what I had ordered. I was thinking that maybe they sent me someone else's chip on accident, because I didn't get a card confirming what tunes were on this chip. I took the chip back out and decided to run the truck stock until I got the situation fixed. Beans got back in touch with me today, and emailed me all of the right tunes I had ordered. I went to burn the tunes on to the chip, and when I tried to erase it I got an "error- module not formatted" message. I gave up and decided to go home, and on the way home (still not running the chip) it seemed like I lost acceleration for a minute, and then the truck had no power and the SES light would flash on and off in a split second when I accelerated. I pulled the codes and got P1249- Wastegate Fail Steady State Test, P0733- Gear Three Ratio Error, and P1209- Injection Control System Pressure Peak Fault. Is it possible this bad chip cooked my PCM? I don't understand why these problems would start two days after the chip was pulled out of the truck?
