Expert Help Please....
First off, 2002 F250 7.3 CCSB 140K Miles
Two weeks ago I was towing my 5K# boat to the lake and all appeared to be normal. This past weekend did the same thing, but it felt like it had little to no boost. I could maintain 70 MPH, but the truck downshifted a lot more than usual. It also sounded like there was an exhaust leak which makes me wonder if it is a leak in the up-pipes. I also would hear a rather constant ppsssssshhhh, which i think sounds like the waste-gate being open???? Don't know all the workings, but I am sure you guys do. In addition, this morning I see fluid on my driveway, which I am wondering if it is coming out of the valley and down the back of my engine. Any thoughts or tests I can do would be great. I have no gauges by the way so have no idea what my boost is. |

Make a pressurizing system for the turbo/ up pipe system. I think u need a 4 in PVC pipe/ fittings look on the forum tons of people make them to find boost leaks. As for the oil where is it coming from?

It looks like it is dripping between the oil pan and the transmission. I have not had a chance to pop the hood this morning to look in the valley. I say this because I have read that sometimes fluid accumulates in the valley and runs down the back of the engine.

Ya it could be oil from the valley or the turbo pedestal o rings.
Vally oil means, hpop, hpop lines in most cases Sent from a Apple |

My neighbor, who has worked on diesel buses, the diesel trucks for UPS, and now for Delta, is leaning toward some leak with the turbo or pedestal. Should know for sure later.
Question? From reading here I see that the turbo will have to come off to fix this. If this is the case, are there other things I should do while all of this is removed and I am back there? |

If the turbo pedestal or EBPV is leaking, does it drip to the valley and then flow out the back? If the EBPV is leaking, would it be closed, which would reduce the amount of exhaust that could get out, which would then lower my power? I know this may depend, but would more than a few drops be coming out of the EBPV if it was leaking? I have what I consider to be a fair amount of oil leaking overnight.
I took it to a mechanic today and they believe it is the HPOP, but I do not get that certainty in their voice. I dont want to spend the labor, and maybe a new HPOP or o-rings if that is not the case. I just feel that the lack of turbo boost and the oil are rolled into one issue, and this is the only thing I can come to, but I am far from an expert. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
