HELP! Looking at a 7.3 van/camper today, need help identifing engine & trans
As the title states I'm going to be looking at a van/camper that is a 84 that has since had a 7.3 w/auto transplanted into it.
Can anyone help identify what engine(year) and auto(trans) it will have? Basically what identify factors are a 94-98 and 99-03? I know the 99-03 was inter-cooled. link to van/camper we are looking at: 1984 box van/camper Thanks all!!! Back-story if you have time to read.... I currently have a 2006 6.0(mods in my sig) that tows our 10k lbs 28' race trailer. My truck now tows it perfectly, but looking for something that has a "racers lounge" that has sofa/bed(s), TV, and more importantly a/c. The van/box truck we are looking at today may fit that bill but currently has about 200k on the engine/trans & 700K on the rig all together Would that combo have enough HP and braking for our trailer?(trailer has electric brakes on both axles & truck in question has a class V hitch) |

7.3s never had intercoolers for vans, there is not enough space. I would be a little wary with this one, as putting a powerstroke in a much older van is not an easy task to say the least. I wonder if there even might be the older 6.9 IDI diesel in there?

One valve cover should have a build date sticker. Another should have serial number.
Transmission would be harder to find out. I made my Samsung SGH-I997 send this. |

Thanks guys for the reply's. Stopped by there Friday and it was a 7.3 idi and a e40d transmission. Needless to say I don' think that would have been able to pull our trailer reliably.
Oh well, back to the search for something that's short like this but has a (Lounge/Camper) factor for when we are at the track. |
