O/D button fuse blows.

Hello everyone new to the site and I am planning on buying a '01 supercab pretty soon found a supercab xlt 4x4 with 162k on it for 12.5k does this seem reasonable? Truck looks in great shape only issue I think is when the tow/haul mode button is pushed a fuse pops and tranny quits pulling. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

There is a common issue with the two tiny wires, at the base of the stalk that has the button on it, chafing through. It's under the column cover and would be the first place I'd look...
