trailer brake controller problem

ok so i just went and bought a "pod" brake controller with a harness for a 94-04 f-250, but the harness would not plug into the truck side pigtail. Thinking i could just wire it i cut the truck side pigtail off, but when i would hit the brake, a relay under the dash would make all kinds of noise so i took it off. What wires go where??? please help me!!

The instructions that came with the controller will tell you what is what. Which brand did you get?
But basically, white is ground, blue is the voltage out to the brakes, and one wire is for a 12V source, and the other is for a brake signal to tell the controller to engage brakes.

it is a "pod" from napa. i used the diagram it came with and it was clearly not correct,(loud buzz when i pushed the brake). I'm going to try messing with the wiring a bit more i guess. thanks for the help

A pod? I don't think NAPA makes controller's but I'll look it up. Let me see if I can't figure it out.
Like I said, there's just those two wires I'm not sure of color on.

Yes. You can get a test light, which has resistance and that's what the controller looks for, and ground it and then touch the lead to the brake pin. The controller should light up showing a "trailer" is connected. Then you can manually engage the controller and the test light should light up depending on how much you engage the controller.

Not sure. Were you manually engaging the controller or pushing the brake?
