URGENT: Squeaking noise since new starter

Hello,

I just finished installing a new (denso) starter. It starts a lot better now, but it seems to have created another problem.

Here's what happens: when I put the transmission into gear, something starts to squeak. This sound is worst in reverse, a little less in drive and it happened only in park while the front of the truck was still on blocks to replace the starter. I went back under the truck while it was running and squeaking and it seems to come from the starter.

This is an urgent message because we're leaving for a 3000 mile trip on Friday and I have only little spare time left until then.

What is that and what can I do about it?

Your starter sounds like it is hitting the flex plate. Does the new starter look exactly like the old one? You may need to shim it out a little.
