'00 350 DRW Power surge.
Looking at buying this thing from a friend. 310k. Pretty good deal. I get this truck and another one that was totaled in front, basically a whole other powertrain with less than 1000 miles on injectors with only 160k on that motor for a total of 10,000. He wants to get rid of it fast so he can order his new '12. Here's the scoop. EBPV tube to the senser is in good shape. No holes. I think it's pretty obvious it is plugged or mostly plugged. Truck idles nice and smooth, the power is just lacking, esp. in the long 2nd gear, it just takes forever to climb it. Then when you get to the 2200-2500 rpm range, there is a very obvious power surge. Truck starting bucking pretty good as if the BPV is opening and closing at a rapid frequency. My theory is, is the high rpm enough to force enough pressure through the plugged tube, causing the sensor to open the valve for just a second long enough the relieve that pressure and shut it again? It's definitely not a fuel issue or a miss. Normal operation is low power. Truck is completely stock. Checking to see if there's a possibility of it being anything else. This friend is a mechanic and he has buzz tested the injectors and they are all good, and has only put a couple thousand on the truck since. Thanks for any and all input.
