Common Problem?

I have a 2001 F350 dually crew cab with 64,000 miles on it. I was on my way home from work last night, crossing an intersection, there was a slight dip in the road. And as the front end came up from the dip, there was a loud BANG and all of a sudden I had no steering! I was able to stop the truck before major disaster but, both Tie Rods pulled the ball from the heims. Is this a common problem? How many others have had the same issue? My truck is a 2wd stock truck, I don't beat it. Used mostly for towing purposes.

Can't say I've heard that before.

thanks.

I just can't believe it. I couldn't have been going more than 10 mph coming across an intersection after a stop sign! Scared the crap out of me though, that's for sure!

When I bought my 99 7.3 2wd, on the way home from the dealership the passenger side tie rod just fell off.
