99 fuel gauge stuck

ok i got a wierd issue i just go this early 99 f350 yesterday i filled it up and the guage only goes to half way after driving it around all day and night when the tank got to a half it starts working and reads the correct amount of fuel from half to empty so filled it back up and stops at a half lol any ideas? i know the bed was replaced on the truck so maybe wires got pinched or sending unit is going bad? first time owner of the 2nd gen powerstroke so any help would be nice.

Sounds like the sending unit to me, if there were a pinched wire it would either read Full or Empty all the time....

Drop the tank, while you're in there do the Hutch & Harpoon mods and inspect the tank for peeling.
