Staring to accelerate fail

Ok so this has happened maybe a hand ful of times since I bought this truck 3 months ago. I have a 01 f250 7.3l 4x4 and after I start the vehicle, sometimes the overdrive light on the shifter will blink and when I put it in drive and try to accelerate the rpms jump up like they should but then it just quits accelerating and goes back to odle or even a bit lower. It stays running though. Like I said this has only happened a hand ful of times but I want to nip it in the butt before it does it constantly.

The OD light and pedal are actually connected!

Chances are, the two little wires going up to the button are starting to short to ground because they're chafed through..
