wastegates

My brother-in-law has a 96 F250 non-wastegated turbo his truck is mostly stock no cold no exhaust, but he has ton's of power. Mine an 02 has cold air intake 4" exhaust 18k mod and new upgraded tranny, while I have more power than stock it is nowhere the power of the 96 would a non-wastegated give me the power or should I upgrade my turbo wheel and buy a banks wastegate?

Try disconnecting your wastegate on your stock turbo, you will for sure pick up some power. Mine on my Ex. is disconnected and runs like a champ.

The only other issue you will have doing this, is you will need something to fool the MAP sensor into not tripping the SES light. There are vendors o' plenty here that have just what you need.

Watch your EGT's as well, if you don't have an EGT gauge, I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it as soon as I get my gauges. Had to rebuild tranny first.

Not sure what color the line is, but yeah thats all there is to it. If you look at the wastegate actuator head itself there is a vacuum line that plugs into it, just disconnect it by pulling it loose.

The Banks Big Head will not make any more or less power while disconnected vs. the stock wastegate actuator.
