You have an electric fuel pump so when you cycle the key to start the pump should run and fill the fuel bowl. Your fuel pump is on the frame rail underneath the drivers door turn the key on you will hear it run or put a meter on it to make sure its good.

I had the exact same problem happen to me last week. You could hear the fuel pump run, but it wasn't delivering any fuel to the bowl. Bone dry. If you're not getting fuel to the bowl, prob definitely the pump.
Hope that helps!

Hope you dont have to go through all I had to go through. Maybe you will get lucky and be just a fuel pump.

did it ever blow the 30amp fuse under the dash???
My '99 did it the other day and shut the whole truck down-I re-placed it but i'm wondering if something is wrong and it will happen again-perhaps the fuel pump is going???
